The BIM clock is ticking

The BIM clock is ticking…

With just 5 weeks until BIM is officially mandated in the UK is your business BIM ready?

In the last six months alone OJEC has advertised contracts worth almost £200m that have been listed within the Building Information Modelling (BIM) category and this is set to rapidly increase after April 4th.

It is surprising that so many businesses have yet to understand what BIM is and what it will mean to their bottom line. This is evident by the number of BIM educational events running for individuals and small to medium sized companies. At BIMBox we’ve seen our rate of enquiries rocket in 2016 as more and more manufacturers begin to recognise the value of creating BIM objects and specifiers are increasingly looking for those forward thinking companies to include in projects.

Of course the larger the company, the more investment is necessary to prepare. With the race for BIM Level 2 compliance now in its final stages main contractors have had to create new processes, recruit more staff and upskill employees across the board. With clear company policies, documentation and defined data requirements now being issued to suppliers in tender supporting BIM Execution Plans, the opportunities for manufacturers to meet the need, differentiate and exploit first mover advantage have never been greater.
